What is Spam?

Spam is unsolicited text message also known as UCTM (Unsolicited Commercial Text Messages). By sending text messages to only those who have requested to receive it, you are following accepted permission-based text message guidelines.

What constitutes a Pre-existing business relationship?

The recipient of your text message has made a purchase, requested information, responded to a questionnaire or a survey, or had offline contact with you.

What constitutes consent?

The recipient of your text message has been clearly and fully notified of the collection and use of their phone number and has consented prior to such collection and use. This is often called informed consent.

How networkText protects you from sending spam

networkText is a permission-based group text messaging tool that follows the strictest permission-based philosophies:

  • Communication - You have already agreed to the embedded privacy policy. Additionally, by accepting our license agreement you have agreed to use only permission-based lists and never to sell or rent your lists.
  • Verification - networkText automatically sends all of your new contacts a text message asking to confirm their interest in receiving text messages from you. Additionally, if your contact changes his or her interests or unsubscribes, networkText automatically removes those users from your group.
  • Unsubscribe - Every text message generated from networkText contains an unsubscribe method, which allows your contacts to opt-out of future text messages by simply reply to any message with the word "STOP". networkText will automatically update your contact lists to avoid the chance of sending unwanted text messages to visitors who have unsubscribed.
  • Identification - Your text message header information is screened by networkText to verify it correctly and accurately describes your group and identifies you as the sender.

How to protect yourself from Spamming: Take the Spam Test

  1. Are you importing a purchased list of ANY kind?
  2. Have you sent your contacts a text message requiring them to take an action to join your group?
  3. Are you using email to SMS, rather then a registered short code?
  4. Are you sending to randomly generated lists.
  5. Are you sending to 1-800 numbers or non valid mobile phone numbers?
  6. Are you text messaging to anyone who has not explicitly agreed to join your group?
  7. Have you falsified your group name or group information?
  8. Have you used a third party group name or domain name without their permission?
  9. Does your text message fail to provide a working opt-out method to unsubscribe?
  10. Are you failing to process any unsubscribe requests that come to you via a reply to your phone within 10 days or the request?

If you have answered YES to ANY of the above questions you will likely be labeled a SPAMMER. For more information contact networkText Customer Support ()
